Biography
Lucy held her breath and bit her lip as she peered
over the
rim of the chosen box. All the odd thumps, noises
and lights
coming from it had ceased the instant she tore the
ribbon
off. She had kicked, shaken, and prodded that box
for days.
All the other boxes had faded from her interest
weeks ago.
The bright-ribbon one was too garish, the quiet box
was too
dull, the others she felt certain were already
empty. This
box, however, was different. She lay quietly beside
it before
finally deciding to open it. Suddenly she felt
herself being
pulled inside. Her last thought was: This Better Be
Good.
LUCY is the trio of TraceyDey, JennSunset, and
ColleenCostello.
They have graced numerous stages since their launch
into the
universe: Hugh’s Room, The Cameron House, The
Rennaissance
Cafe, and The Church at Berkley. Collectively they
brought
festival experience from Mariposa and Toronto City
Roots as
well as local Toronto experience at classics such as
C’est
What, Holy Joe’s, The Reverb, Free Times and
Graffiti’s.
Before LUCYmusic existed, they were performing with
other
musicians around the globe. It began in Japan with
the disco-punk
band Gaijin. There was the jalopy band Mobile Couch
in Victoria,
BC while Ontario experienced the folk music of Walk
Left Stand
Right and the soul and R& B of Have Mercy. Other
experiences
include some ska with King Kong Giro and rock with A
Boy Named
Diane.
If LUCYmusic was fast food it would be of the tasty
variety,
with vegetarian options of course. You’ll find LUCY
grilling
some hamburger ska, veggie dog jazz, and sloppy joe
folk.
LUCYmusic will serve it up with fixin’s like
clarinet
lettuce, heartwrenching jalapenos, and rockin’
special
sauce. LUCY’s whole grain buns are freshly baked and
buttered to punkerfection!! You can simmer down with
their
lush vocal sundaes and it’s an experience guaranteed
to leave you satisfied!
“LUCY! What are you doing out there on the porch!
Come
out of that box this instant! What is that racket?
Don’t
you think you’re a little old to be playing with
toys?
If I catch you eating in there...Are you listening
to me?
LUCY!!!”
